Об Антропологических Исследованиях Среди Корейцев на Дальнем Востоке, в Узбекистане и Казахстане во Второй Половине 1930-х - 1940-х Годов

Valeriy Khan

Abstract

The article is devoted to the anthropological field research carried out among Korean population of the USSR in the 19301940s. The special importance has an M. Levin research expedition to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The author pays attention to the historical period of these investigations – 1937-1947 years. He considers that that kind of fieldwork at that time (before World War II and after the war) was unusual and needed big expenses. To explain this fact the author supposes (this is an assumption required the empirical justification) that these investigations could be a social order at the time when not simple Soviet-Japanese, Soviet-Chinese and Soviet Korean relations required the scientific data how to distinguish the North Eastern peoples. Later on, this kind of fieldwork on anthropometric parameters was not carried out in the Soviet Union.
