It is known that the commentary and the translation of the Quran into Turkish are important sources for the understanding of the historical progress of Turkish. Another importance of such sources is that in terms of lexicology, the possibility of matching the Turkish words with those in Arabic. This situation brings about the necessity of examining the translation and commentary of the Quran in terms of vocabulary. The vocabulary of the commentary of the Quran in Chagatay, belonging to the era of Shaybanis, contributes to that of the Turkish languages.
