Dilbilim ve Türkçe İncelemeleri

Abstract

Turkic studies have a long historical background, but Turkish linguistics in the modern sense has become a dynamic field of research only after 1970s when several departments of linguistics were established in various universities in Turkey. This survey briefly summarizes the research conducted on various aspects of Turkish through modern linguistic approaches after 1970s. For this purpose, data have been collected from several sources: articles published in Dilbilim Araştırmaları (DA) (the only linguistic journal published since 1990), national (forum I), international forums (Forum II/ICTL) of Turkish linguistics conferences and theses database (in Turkish Council of Higher Education/YÖK). In the end, it is suggested that close collaboration between adherents of Turkology and modern linguistics will be beneficial for both parties and will clearly improve the quality of research in the field.
