In this research, the Turkish modal morpheme -mAlI will be discussed with its two rarely described or ignored functions. -mAlI is usually stated as an obligatory-necessity marker in most linguistic literature. In addition to this, it can function as volitional and imperative marker in some contexts. This article will discuss the contextual and pragmatic features in which the -mAlI can mark volition and imperative. The functional statements of -mAlI will be presented from the view of linguistic modality.
