In this research, the functions of setting will be discussed by means of Peyami Safa’s Dokuzuncu Hariciye Koğuşu. Functions of setting in the novel will be examined by focusing on such questions as “Is the setting only a place in which the figures seen? What are the features of setting and what means these features in the systematic completeness of novel? “Is the setting a functional device for presenting the identities, socio-economic positions and educational degrees of the figures?”
